The phlebotomy school and program you enroll in should be accredited by a respected regional or national accrediting agency, such as the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). Also, accreditation will help in getting financial aid or loans, which are often unavailable for non-accredited programs in Calera AL. Last, graduating from an accredited college can make you more desirable to future employers in the job market.

So in addition to accreditation, it’s essential to check out the reputations of all schools you are reviewing. As a minimum, any Calera AL phlebotomy program that you are considering should provide at least 40 hours of classroom training (most require 120) and 120 hours of practical training. Anything less than these minimums might signify that the program is not comprehensive enough to furnish sufficient training.

Are Internship Programs Sponsored? Ask the Alabama schools you are reviewing if they have an internship program in partnership with regional medical facilities. They are the optimal way to receive hands-on clinical training typically not available on campus. As an added benefit, internships can help students develop contacts within the local Calera AL healthcare community. And they look good on resumes as well.

Is Job Placement Support Offered? Landing your first phlebotomy position will be much easier with the help of a job placement program.
