The racial makeup of the village was 95.0% White, 1.2% African American, 0.6% Native American, 0.6% Asian, 0.8% from other races, and 1.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.6% of the population.

There were 2,453 households of which 34.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.7% were married couples living together, 13.1% had a female householder with no husband present, 5.9% had a male householder with no wife present, and 37.3% were non-families. 30.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
